William O. Grabe
Managing Director, General Atlantic LLC
William O. Grabe has been a Managing Director at General
Atlantic LLC since 1992. Mr. Grabe brings broad
international experience and an extensive sales and
marketing background to General Atlantic. He has
assisted numerous companies in their geographical
expansion and the development of strategic alliances. As
a Managing Director at General Atlantic, Mr. Grabe is a
director of several private and public software and
services companies including AKQA, Infotech Enterprises
Ltd., Lenovo Group Limited, and Patni Computer Systems.
Prior to his affiliation with General Atlantic, Mr.
Grabe retired from the IBM Corporation as an IBM Vice
President and Corporate Officer. In his last position he
was responsible for US Marketing and Services and was a
founding member of the board of ISSC, the precursor to
IBM Global Services. Earlier in his IBM career he was
President, National Accounts Division and in 1988 was
responsible for the worldwide launch of the AS 400.
His outside affiliations include being a member of the
UCLA Anderson School of Management Board of Visitors, a
member of the Cancer Research Institute Board of
Trustees, a Trustee of Outward Bound International, a
Trustee of the Board of the Nature Conservancy
Connecticut Chapter, and a director of Actinium
Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Compuware Corporation and
Gartner, Inc.
Mr. Grabe holds a B.S. in Engineering from New York
University (1958) and received his M.B.A. from the
University of California at Los Angeles (1963).
